The Float Archipelago

(draft — to be rewritten from the ledger) Nagahama, Takayama, Chichibu, Kishiwada — festivals of floats spread along the highways to castle towns across the archipelago. In 2016, thirty-three of them were inscribed together on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list as the Yama, Hoko and Yatai float festivals. Seen as lights on the geographic map, this current runs dotted along the old roads.
